Should developed nations encourage immigration from other countries?
Developed nations should encourage immigration from other countries for three reasons: economy, diversity and international cooperation.
First, developed countries have declining birth rates as educated women tend to have no children, leading to a less workforce. Hence, to secure workers, such countries have to make use of immigrants. For example, Japanese businesses such as convenience stores or plants cannot run their operations without low-wage foreigners. Immigrants are indispensable for developed countries.
Second, immigrants contribute to diversity. There are different values in different nations, so a nation can get new values by communicating with aliens. For instance, while Japanese people highlight punctuality, which is sometimes suffocating, some citizens in other nations are lenient, permitting others’ delays. This provides fresh perspectives to Japanese individuals.
Last but not least, immigrants promote international cooperation. If you accept immigrants, they will thank you and be aware of you and your culture, resulting in a stronger bond between them and you. Say, now, Ukrainian persons escape from their state because of the Russian invasion. If a state embraces them, Ukraine will support it, causing it to gain power in the international community. The more friends you have, the larger your clout will be.
Immigrants may be burdens in the short term, nevertheless, in the long run, they provide many advantages.
